Arian Brekveldās new designs for a trio of products for Royalvkb are so smooth that any thirst will be quickly quenched. The stainless steel and melamine carafe shown above is double-walled, and its tumblers also function as a lid. The water carafe after the jump is self-cooling, as the temperature of the water inside will drop, due to natural evaporation. As the heat increases outside, evaporation will increase. And the Fresh Traveler allows cereal and milk to be transported together, but in separate compartments, to be mixed up when needed.
The Swan is a desk by Louis Beliveau, one half of the Montreal design team Les Chics Types. The ugly duckling nature of raw steel is turned into a powder-coated origami swan with so many slots and spots for cables. The desk is minimalist and its built-in cable organizer and power bar ensure that it stays that way.
In Ineke Hans’s Fracture collection for Cappellini, the designer moved away from the traditional materials of wood, metal and plastic to opt for a more unusual selection, polyester plaster - the same material used to make casts. Wrapped around polystyrene foam, the plaster furniture is not only lightweight, but also extremely durable. The collection includes a chair, stool, side table and coat rack.
