Roberto Feo and Rosario Hurtado gave us a sneak preview of some pieces in collections that will be launched in Milan and Frankfurt this year for Uno, Sofactual (what a great sofa!) and Arturo Alvarez. Avant Gardeners

There are some days, ie., when it’s -25C outside, that Spring is highly anticipated. In May, Spring here in Canada, former Wallpaper magazine landscape editor Tim Richardson will see his book Avant Gardeners published. The book documents the last ten years in avant garde landscape and garden design, “garden plans [that] have embraced the latest thinking in materials, science, and interactive design, and have appropriated ideas from related disciplines such as architecture and product design, redefining and blurring the borders of nature and the man-made.”. Like the ones we’ve seen at the International Garden Festival, in fact by firms featured in the book such as Atelier Big City, Claude Cormier and Nip Paysage. Hardcover, 352 pages, 500+ color illustrations, due in May, $37.80 at Amazon.

Maplemap

The Maplemap Light by Ani+Lumigrane was shown at IDS08. Created by Frédéric Guibrunet, a papermaker and lighting designer, and Didier Boursin, an expert in origami, the Maplemap is made out of cotton paper. Assembly of the shade of this limited edition lamp, 100 signed and numbered, is left to the purchaser. Along with two other lamps, Princesse and Mademoiselle (collaborations with Sophie Mouton-Perrat), that combine papier-maché with linen paper, Ani+Lumigrane received the Best Collection Award during IDS08.
