Around the Corner is the name of an exhibition of four pieces of furniture by architect Amanda Levete of Future Systems for Established & Sons. These pieces focus on how to make use of the corner of a room and are sexy, intelligent designs that are very organic and fluid. Levete looks at the relationship between space and object, and each piece is named after a point on the compass. North is a fibreglass shelf and South is set of two Corian shelves. East is a marble table/desk and West a wooden bench.
Fredrikson Stallard are presenting Cavern, a roomscape of furniture, lighting and accessories for Swarovski Crystal Palace in Milan next month. The collection includes furniture (ebonized oak, leather or cast concrete) whose monolith forms are dotted with cavernous openings, which in turn are encrusted with crystals. The effect is akin to that of geological crystalline structures such as geodes. Landscapes by several different important designers will be presented at this time in Milan.
Hanyoung Lee’s clever “virtual wall” traffic light concept provides a visually strong barrier that would hopefully prevent motorists from blocking the box. And if the visual barrier isn’t incentive enough, perhaps they could up the wattage of the lasers….
