Arja Rantala and Sami Haikonen are the two young designers behind the Finnish design collective Osuma. The pair find inspiration in the forms of their surrounding countryside, as can be seen in Soil, a ceramic tile based on the topography of Helsinki’s Töölö Bay. Left uncut, the tiles create a continuous landscape, but when used in smaller pieces new patterns begin to emerge.

Star Quest

Maude Décor’s new collections, Star Quest and Famous Canadian Mountains, will be launched at this week’s Interior Design Show in Toronto. Star Quest is a modern and creative interpretation of various constellations in a smashing array of colours. Famous Canadian Mountains offers up the topography of several peaks for a truly original collection of floor coverings. Above we have examples of Hydra, Andromeda, Ursa Major and Hydra. Before and After: Jessica’s Chair

Designer jessica moss’ parents got this chair as a wedding gift over thirty years ago. it moved from room to room in their house until finally it became an ‘outdated reject’. jennifer decided to give it a face lift last week with some fantastic fabric from ikea (i love those patterns) and voila- instant upgrade.
