Back in September 2007 designboom held an exhibition of contemporary ceramics at Designersblock during the London Design Festival. The show, titled ‘handled with care’ featured 500 pieces by 163 established and upcoming designers from 35 countries. handled with care: contemporary ceramic design is the catalog from the show with highlights of 180 of the projects. As designboom says, it’s “a snapshot of contemporary ceramic craft”. It’s also a limited-edition, only 1000 copies will be printed (see some book spreads here). We were impressed with Cate&Nelson Design at IMM Cologne. Now the Swedish-based studio is showing three products at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The Oz is a low chair that offers a variety of coloured felt to sit upon, almost like the pages of a book. When the mood changes, turn the page. The Fiat Lux lamp is also book-related, with a slot to hold the book you were reading when you turned off the light. And Tacto is a felt-covered sideboard that functions as a seat and hides a spacious drawer.
